Congratulations to Aerodyne's Doug Worsnop

The Aerodyne team is thrilled to announce that Dr. Douglas Worsnop has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering – Class of 2026. Members are elected by their peers and it is considered one the highest honors given to a scientist or engineer.

Doug joined Aerodyne Research in June of 1985 and has been instrumental to Aerodyne’s success in the field of atmospheric chemistry. He is a leading expert in the chemistry and heterogeneous reactions of atmospheric aerosols. He has pioneered the development of laboratory and field measurement techniques for investigating chemical interactions between atmospheric trace gases and aerosols, including water droplets. His expertise extends to the mechanisms of the formation of polar stratospheric clouds, and to measurements of the chemical composition of atmospheric aerosols.

In addition to his election to the NAE, Dr. Worsnop is a recipient of the 2004 Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award (American Association for Aerosol Research) for his achievements in atmospheric composition measurement with the Aerodyne mass spectrometer system (AMS). He received the 2010 Yoram Kaufman (AGU Atmospheric Sciences) for Unselfish Cooperation in Research and is a Fellow of AAAS and AGU.

After 40 years of tireless work for Aerodyne, Doug continues to travel globally sharing his expertise and is especially interested in inspiring the younger generation in their pursuits. His recent election to the National Academy of Engineering highlights his dedication to his work.

Please join us in celebrating Doug’s latest achievement!
